Hello Again
I took a look at this site a couple of weeks ago and saw that my "current employment" was almost 9 months out of date so I figured I should actually make a post.
This time last year I was about 6 months into a new job at a new agency, and starting to wonder why I was still there.
I felt that the work I was doing was middling at best, and not very fulfilling.
I started taking lots of interviews and speaking with recruiters. Eventually one of them reached out with what sounded like something actually different: an in-house role at an established brand, looking to build something on Shopify from the ground up.
I was really intrigued because it was still a remote gig, but in-house and with a nice little pay bump.
The only catch was that my title was technically a demotion from Tech Lead to Senior Developer. In all honesty I didn't think anything of it, and in practice it has been such a relief. I no longer have to deal with internal politics or large planning calls. I just build stuff.
Speaking of building stuff. Part of the reason I've been so quiet here is that once I took that job last September, I've been working hard on launching the re-build of watchesofswitzerland.com.
I'm really proud of the work my small team has done in just 7 or 8 months. So much more to do still but we are really happy with the performance, accessibility, and design polish.
We've got 3 more sites lined up to launch this year so I'm headed back to the grindstone. See you then :)
